Custom data extension has trust issues
but when viewing it from the report server I get the error:
--
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create command for data source 'MeridiumDataSource'.
(rsErrorCreatingCommand)
That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.
--
I have put the correct codeblock tags in rssrvpolicy.config, right
after the codeblock with Url="$CodeGen$/*" as I'm supposed to:
--
<CodeGroup
class="UnionCodeGroup"
version="1"
PermissionSetName="FullTrust"
Name="MeridiumCodeGroup"
Description="Code group for my data processing extension">

class="UrlMembershipCondition"
version="1"
Url="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\Reporting
Services\ReportServer\bin\MeridiumDataEx
tension.dll"
/>
</CodeGroup>
--
I have some 3rd party assemblies that my DPE references; I also put a
codeblock for them in rssrvpolicy.config:
--
<CodeGroup
class="UnionCodeGroup"
version="3.2.0.148"
PermissionSetName="FullTrust"
Name="MeridiumCoreCodeGroup"
Description="This code group grants Meridium core code full
trust. ">
<IMembershipCondition
class="StrongNameMembershipCondition"
version="1"
PublicKeyBlob="[public key]"
/>
</CodeGroup>
--
I also put the followinig line in my AssemblyInfo.cs file:
--
[assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers]
--
None of these things changed the error. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.I guess I forgot to mention that this data extension is for reporting
services, and that this is sql server 2005.|||You might consider posting in the sqlserver.reportingsvcs newgroup.

Custom data extension has trust issues
SQL Server 2005. The extension works in preview mode, but when viewing
it from the report server I get the error:
--
An error has occurred during report processing.
--
<CodeGroup
class="UnionCodeGroup"
version="1"
PermissionSetName="FullTrust"
Name="MeridiumCodeGroup"
Description="Code group for my data processing extension">
<IMembershipCondition
class="UrlMembershipCondition"
version="1"
Url="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\Reporting
Services\ReportServer\bin\MeridiumDataExtension.dll"
/>
</CodeGroup>
--
I have some 3rd party assemblies that my DPE references; I also put a
codeblock for them in rssrvpolicy.config:
--
<CodeGroup
class="UnionCodeGroup"
version="3.2.0.148"
PermissionSetName="FullTrust"
Name="MeridiumCoreCodeGroup"
Description="This code group grants Meridium core code full
trust. ">
<IMembershipCondition
class="StrongNameMembershipCondition"
version="1"
PublicKeyBlob="[public key]"
/>
</CodeGroup>
--
I also put the followinig line in my AssemblyInfo.cs file:
--
[assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers]
--
None of these things changed the error. I also recently tried using
mscorcfg.msc to create a code group giving everything in the bin folder
(including all of my DLL's), and then I copied that codegroup to the RS
config file. This failed to change anything as well. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!Hi Ryan.
I have worked a lot with extensions and have had a lot of security issues.
I think the easiest way to find out which assembly needs permissions is to
debug. Step through you code and when a unthrusted method is called you will
get an exception.
Your third party assemblies might call something that need to be thrusted?
Kind regards

custom code and messagebox popup
I have custom code written the to show a message Box.
It was working fine in DotNet2005 Development enviroment preview tab.
But it is't working when i deploy this report to the web.
Please use a reference to
System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0
Public Function Test() As String
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("Hello")
' Or
Msgbox "Hello2"
Return "OK"
End Function
Can anyone help me
martinYou can't use System.Windows.Forms for a web page. Please see the following
URL: http://www.freevbcode.com/ShowCode.asp?ID=5918. If you don't want to
go there, use the following function to stream out a message box
Public Sub ASPNET_MsgBox(ByVal Message As String)
System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response.Write("<SCRIPT
LANGUAGE=""JavaScript"">" & vbCrLf)
System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response.Write("alert(""" & Message &
""")" & vbCrLf)
System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response.Write("</SCRIPT>")
End Sub

Custom assembly, not a trusted assembly
Parameters Error
The report references the code module ‘Employee, Version=1.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null’, which is not a trusted assembly.
OK
I have modifed the reporting services rspreviewpolicy.config and rssrvpolicy.config with the following:
<CodeGroup
class="UnionCodeGroup"
version="1"
PermissionSetName="FullTrust"
Name="Custom_Code_Group"
Description="This code group grants custom code full trust. ">
<IMembershipCondition
class="UrlMembershipCondition"
version="1"
Url="C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies\Employee.dll"
/>
</CodeGroup>
However it has made no difference. I know I must be missing something. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
Thank you in advance.I just upgraded from RS 2005 Beta 1 to Beta 2. Now I'm having the same problem. I had all of my custom assemblies working fine in Beta 1. When I installed Beta 2, I gleaned from a few postings that I had to move my assemblies to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies
Done.
I then modified RSPreviewPolicy.config in the same folder to give access to these assemblies.
<CodeGroup class="UnionCodeGroup"
version="1"
PermissionSetName="FullTrust"
Name="SystemCommon"
Description="Grants permissions to the User Utilities assembly">
<IMembershipCondition class="UrlMembershipCondition"
version="1"
Url="C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\et.User.SystemCommon.dll"
/>
</CodeGroup>
"The report references the code module 'et.User.SystemCommon' .... , which is not a trusted assembly."
Question : are there any significant changes to Code Access Security from Beta 1 to Beta 2? In Beta 1, if you did anything wrong in the config file (ie "URLMembershipCondition" vs. "UrlMembershipCondition"), the whole IDE gave out. I'm wondering if perhaps this is a more subtle way of telling me the same thing?
Significantly, the reports are working fine on the server.
I'ma go getta coffee.|||There was a problem with custom assemblies in some of the earlier builds. Your solution should work for the released version.
Custom assembly problems in RS
I have a custom assembly that is working just fine in the Preview tab in Report Designer. However, the popup preview is blowing up with the error: Execute permissions cannot be acquired.
I've added a code group (at the top of the code group section) in the rsPreviewPolicy.config, which is residing in the default location. My .dll is in the correct place and functioning, as evidenced by the preview tab success. The .dll is using ADO.net to call a stored proc in an Oracle database.
I added the code group by directly editing the config file; I'm no XML veteran, so I'm not sure if it's configured correctly. The .Net editor tells me it's "well-formed". When it wasn't well-formed, I got an error regarding loading the file, so I'm assuming this isn't the problem.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Unless you assert the permission explicitly in the custom assembly code, it
will fail with a security exception.
Example for opening a connection to a SQL Server:
...
SqlClientPermission permission = new
SqlClientPermission(PermissionState.Unrestricted);
try
{
permission.Assert(); // Assert security permission!
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection("...");
con.Open();
...
}

custom assemblies problem
some code to call the component.
It works fine in preview mode, but when I deploy the report to another
server I get the error:
"error while loading code module 'x', version='x' ..."
I feel I tried everything, copying the dll myself to the server's
reportserver\bin folder, giving read & execute permissions, creating the xml
nodes in the RSReportServer.config on the server etc.
Always that error.
Is there some description on what to do if you deploy your reports with
custom assemblies to another server?This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Custom Assemblies
I had an external assembly for which i had added the reference in the
report.When i view the report in PREVIEW section the report is displyed
properly with the data but when i review in browser the report is shown with
error as "Security Error" where i am referencing the external DLL. Can
anybody tell me how to set security for the external DLL.
