Custom Rendering
I want to "create" a renderer for RS (2000). I read some articles on
this topic, and i found this technical sample for RS 2005 :
Display Your Data Your Way with Custom Renderers for Reporting Services
:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/05/02/CustomRenderers/default.aspx
I've read int this newsgroup the way to implement the rendreing is the
same in RS 2000.
I can compile my customized renderer, but when i look at my reports, i
don't see my renderer in the ouputs dropdownlist... I have modified the
"RSReportServer.config" and "rssrvpolicy.config" files, as its written
in the article. I tried IISRESET, and I even restart the server, but no
changes.
Does this sample really work in RS 2000 ?
If yes, do you have any suggestion to resolve my problem ?I'm back to give more information about my problem.
Here's what i found in the report server log file (sorrry, some words
are French) :
w3wp!extensionfactory!ca0!06/07/2005-15:52:05:: e ERROR: Exception

.
It seems that my assembly mscorlib can't be called, or that mscorlib
can't access something.
I don't understand really this error. Can somebody help me ?
Thanks.
Custom renderer samples?
Magazone article that seems to be the only thing that everyone points to? The
documentation on this is meager at best.
Thanks.I don't have anything, but read this a while back, it's from Carlos on the
Spanish MS team.

Custom Renderer in SharePoint integrated mode
We have been successful in creating a custom Excel Renderer that works very well on a server configured for SSRS Native mode. However we have another server that is configured to work in SSRS integrated mode that we can not get this custom renderer to work properly. The steps we follow are:
After the report results are displayed we select Actions -> Export -> Excel Custom . So I can see the name of our custom rendering type. After a very short amount of time (no more than a second or 2) I get a frame that says: an unexpected error has occurred. Here is the URL of the web site:http://sharepointserver/sites/BI/Reports/Reserved.ReportViewerWebPart.axd?ReportSession=2jqe4e45sm0sze553avovv55&ControlID=5c4fbb59def64efdac050393cd3fb338&Culture=1033&UICulture=1033&ReportStack=1&OpType=Export&FileName=edi001&ContentDisposition=OnlyHtmlInline&Format=CUSTOM_RENDERER
Is there anything that has to be done differently to get a custom renderer to work in SharePoint integrated mode?Note: here is the article we followed to initially create the renderer that will work in SSRS native mode:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/05/02/CustomRenderers/
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I have had the same problem, and have not found any hints yet on how to get a custom renderer to work. I check the supported/unsupported feature list for Integrated SSRS, and there is no mention there that the feature is not available, so am holding out hope that it is something simple.

Custom Renderer doesn't show in VS report builder
from:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/05/02/CustomRenderers/
So far I can see it and run it as an export option when I run the
report from ReportManager. However it does not show as an option from
the vs.net report builder preview. Any suggestions as to how to make
this work?
Also I can't seem to debug into my renderer, any help with how to step
into this thing would be appreciated.
thanks-JimYou need to add it as a renderer in two different config files, one for
the Report Server, the other for the Report Designer.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Report
Designer\RSReportDesigner.config
I think is the file you still need to update|||Thanks Greg, that worked. For future reference with vs 2005 and sql
2005 the path was C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio
8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\RSReportDesigner.config. Of course I
had to put my custom dll there also.

Custom Delivery Extension
I have successfully created a custom data renderer(report to form) and a
data extension.
I need to create a custom delivery extension that will check if the reports
is returning data before delivering it.
Any pointers.....
Thanks
MandarUnfortunately the delivery extension API doesn't expose any mechanism for
knowing if the report contained data or not. The only work around is to use
data driven subscriptions such that the query for the subscription returns
no rows if the report will have no data.
If the delivery extension does not have to be generic, it could be written
to have knowledge of the reports and do some checking on its own.
This feature has been requested a lot and is on the list for consideration
for a future release.

Thanks for your response.
I have installed the PrinterDeliveryExtension sample.
The Webserver/ReportServer & SQL Server are installed on the same machine.
I am using RS SP2 and am able to use the print functionality in the
ReportViewer.
I tried adding the printer name in the RSWebApplication.config file &
RSReportServer.config under the Delivery tag.
The printer is a network printer installed in another machine & I had given
the path as "\\anothermachinename\printername".
This was giving me an error while setting up the subscription itself, saying
printer not found.
I have modified the code in the PrinterDeliveryProvider.vb file,
function-SetConfiguration().
Here instead of reading the printer names from the config files, I am using
the PrintDocument object to pick up all the printers on the network
programmatically.
I can see the list of all the printers on the network on the subscription
page in the "Select Printer" dropdown, and can now create the subscription.
But when the subscription runs the status says "The printer
\\anothermachinename\printername is not currently
installed on the server."
Any ideas on this.

user. Perhaps this user does not have permission to see the network
printer. Try giving them permission.
